Demonstrators
The novel bio-Smart Textile Materials developed in SUBBIMATT are implemented in three demonstrators to showcase their potential and practical applications in real-world scenarios:
Shape Morphing Building Envelopes
Adaptive building envelopes featuring inflatable textile actuators that can track sun radiation, provide on-demand shading, and harvest solar and wind energy.
Impact: Improved internal comfort, energy savings, and enhanced sustainability in building construction.
Automotive Interior Textiles
Automotive interiors utilizing textile energy harvesters to generate their own energy from vibrations and friction, powering integrated sensors and reducing the vehicle’s energy consumption.
Impact: Weight reduction, easier assembly, and extended range for electric vehicles.
Advanced Garments with Adaptable Breathability
Garments incorporating tunable openness fabrics for adjustable breathability and thermal comfort, ideal for workwear, outdoor, and sports applications.
Impact: Enhanced wearer comfort, reduced need for heating and cooling, and increased energy efficiency.
